Costa Rica: Where Jungle Meets Ocean

Costa Rica has been high on my bucket list for years, and this summer, I finally made it—and fell completely in love. From animal-filled rainforests to golden sand beaches, the biodiversity is unmatched. Add in the easy direct flights from LAX (just six hours!) and how simple it is to get around, and it’s truly the perfect destination.

Whether you’re craving a romantic getaway or a fun family adventure, Costa Rica delivers. Here’s my ideal 7-day itinerary: half rainforest, half coast, combining adventure and relaxation in the best way.

I stayed at Origins Lodge a boutique property perched between two volcanoes in northern Costa Rica. The environmentally friendly lodge blends seamlessly into the jungle, offering:

  • Private jacuzzis right outside your room

  • Guided night walks, where I spotted the iconic red-eyed tree frog

  • A personal, intimate vibe reminiscent of a family-run safari lodge

I got a sneak preview of Origins Astral, their sister property opening in December 2025. This new retreat will redefine rainforest stays for families and small groups, with spacious two- to four-bedroom villas, each featuring its own private plunge pool.

After the jungle, I shifted gears to pure relaxation at Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Have you heard of Ritz-Carlton Reserve? It’s the brand’s most exclusive tier, with each property chosen for its extraordinary location and deep cultural connection.

Here, the jungle flows right into the sea. I woke up to panoramic ocean views from my hillside suite, enjoyed a delicious healthy breakfast (included in your stay when you book with me!), then took a jungle funicular down to the calm bay where I paddleboarded in total peace. The dining blew me away; fresh tuna crudo at Niri, bold Peruvian flavors at Puna, and a hidden speakeasy serving the best cocktails in Costa Rica. Don’t even get me started on sunset at the canopy bar!!!

While a rainforest-and-coast combo makes a perfect simple trip, there are so many other corners of Costa Rica also worth exploring if you have more time:

  • Santa Teresa – Laid-back surf town famous for consistent waves & cool bohemian vibe. Great for couples or families who want that barefoot luxury feel.

  • Corcovado National Park – One of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Wildlife lovers will spot tapirs, scarlet macaws, and maybe even jaguars while exploring pristine rainforest trails, with great surf just a drive away!

  • Monteverde Cloud Forest – A misty, magical setting known for hanging bridges, zip-lining, and spotting rare bird species. It’s the ultimate eco-adventure spot.

Costa Rica is easier than ever to reach and offers something for everyone. From finding the right lodge to organizing activities and seamless transfers, I take care of all the details so you can simply enjoy paradise.
