My wellness reset in India
If you’re looking for the best natural wellness resort in the world, this is it. Ananda in the Himalayas is located in the Himalayan foothills of India and is rooted in ancient Ayurvedic practices as its core healing philosophy. The property itself was once the Palace Estate of the Maharaja, so the grounds are absolutely stunning and impeccably maintained.
Ananda In the Himalayas
The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed with a strong sense of place, plus gorgeous views over the rolling Himalayan hills. Trust me, you’ll have some of the best sleep of your life here.
One of the core parts of the experience is the Ayurvedic doctor consultation. You meet with a doctor who assesses your dosha and explains how it influences your personality, lifestyle, and overall health. Based on that, they create a personalized plan that guides your treatments, meals, and daily routine for the duration of your stay.
All treatments are included and chosen specifically for your body and needs. You’ll spend a lot of time at the spa, and every treatment serves a purpose. I had never done reflexology before and was shocked at how connected your feet are to your entire body… also shocked at how much it hurt. Clearly I had some stress to release.
One of my favorite parts is the traditional kurtas you’re given to wear throughout your stay. Not having to think about what to wear is surprisingly freeing and allows you to turn your brain off.
Daily guided sessions like yoga, meditation, and breathwork are available, and you can choose how much you want to participate. I also loved the educational sessions offered each day, like learning practical ways to remove stress from your life - I know you all need that as much as I do!
There are also opportunities to explore nearby areas and connect with local culture. I loved the hike up to the local temple, walking through mustard fields, and saying hello to monkeys and puppies along the way. It’s the perfect balance of being fully immersed in the retreat while still feeling connected to India.
And we can’t talk about Ananda without mentioning the food. Everything is Ayurvedic and fully personalized to your dosha, but don’t worry, it’s still flavorful, satisfying, and changes daily.
Now imagine how great you would feel after a week here!
If you’re curious about planning a stay here I’d be happy to share more details and help you make it happen.
