I climbed Mt. Everest!

JUST KIDDING but I did go to Nepal!

Bet that subject line didn't even shock you though, cause its probably something I would do, but no, I stayed at one of the most remote ultra-luxury resorts in the world. Nepal is so much more than Everest. The Himalayan mountain range runs across northern Nepal, and is home to 8 of the world’s 14 highest peaks.

My destination was the remote Mustang region (close to the popular Annapurna trek) to visit a luxury lodge called Shinta Mani Mustang. I truly believe the most breathtaking, awe inspiring, life changing places, are the ones hardest to get to and if you’re willing to make the effort, you are greatly rewarded. Well, I was greatly rewarded.

Shinta Mani Mustang is an all-inclusive lodge, designed by Bill Bensley (my fav hotel designer ever) in a traditional Nepali style with 29 suites, all with sweeping views of the Himalayas. I asked about buying one of the rugs (just look how cute the tiger one below is), and they said I could find them in the MET! Safe to say I did not buy a rug.

Everything at the property is curated perfectly, from the locally sourced meals and fun signature cocktails to the top notch spa treatments and traditional Tibetan healer (booking a visit with him is a must). But it’s what’s curated for you off property that will BLOW YOUR MIND. All excursions are custom tailored to your interests, whether you want more strenuous activity (or less), or really love history and culture.

Visiting an 800 year old Bon Buddhist village and speaking with the local monks

Mountain biking from village to village over chain bridges and through ravines

Private lunch catered by the hotel on the top of a 15th century monetary

Trekking through the Himalayas to a private lake (and a cold plunge if you’re bold like me)

And the best part… everything I’ve mentioned is included in the rate (yes, even the spa & laundry). You don’t take out your wallet once. That’s intentional, so you can show up and be present.

You are assigned a sherpa (what they call a butler/guide) at check in who escorts you to all your activities, and I promise you will become fast friends.

Chiti Jaum Jaum ‘let’s go’ in Nepali

Nepal is one of those destinations that leaves an imprint on your soul. It reminds you that we are so small in this big world and to soak up every moment in this short life we have.
