The art of the return: Beating post-vacation blues

I travel on average 4 months of the year, so I can confidently say I've nailed the transition back to reality after a vacation. I’ve had to master the delicate art of the "soft landing" back without physically (& mentally) feeling like trash!

My Golden Rules for a

Post-Travel

Routine:

Never Nap or Fall Asleep Too Early

I get it! You're exhausted after a 24 hour travel day that arrives home at 10AM. But do your best to get on the time zone right away for both meal times & bed time.

Add in a "Buffer Day" to your OOO

Ideally I'm landing home on a Saturday so Sunday can be used for laundry, meal prep, etc. I always schedule a morning workout on my buffer day to force my body back into the time zone.

Schedule Your Week Ahead of Time

Before I leave for my trip I schedule out the week of my return; meals, workouts, chores. That way I don't feel overwhelmed when I get back, I just have to get my butt up!

Outsource the Chores

I have the cleaners come while I'm away so that I'm coming home to a clean house and I always arrange grocery delivery for the day I get home to prevent ordering unhealthy takeout!

Always have your next adventure plotted out

One of the greatest joys of travel begins long before departure.

From dreaming about where to go to counting down the days, having an incredible experience ahead to look forward to creates excitement, inspiration, and memories before the trip even begins.
