The Best Luxury Rivercruise in Europe: Riverside
My mom and I recently took our first ever river cruise on the Danube from Vienna to Budapest and it was AWESOME. Everything about the experience exceeded expectations from the luxurious cabins and first class dining onboard to the range of excursion options at each destination.
Besides the luxury of the boat, I loved how effortless and efficient the whole experience was. You can truly shut off your brain but still see so much! When your accommodation is your mode of transportation, you save time, money and stress. No worrying about missing that train or losing a whole day due to a plane delay. And best of all, no unpacking between destinations.
Why Riverside?
Vibe - The atmosphere feels more like a luxury boutique hotel than it does a “cruise”. The suites are spacious and with only 81 in total, the boat never feels busy and you quickly get to know the staff and fellow travelers.
Food - Forbes just named them best food on a river cruise and I could not agree more! Everything is made fresh onboard from warm pretzels to multiple coursed dinner menus featuring locally sourced ingredients. The executive chef adjusts the menu based on the region and what's in stock at the market!
Service - Ummm, butler service! Ours was so helpful and could anticipate our needs before we even did. I loved that we could contact them via Whatsapp for anything, she even packed up our bags.
Highlights Along the Route
Our journey began in Budapest, a city with rich history, unique architecture, thermal baths, and riverside charm. Watching the Parliament illuminated at night as we dined on the ship was unforgettable. A highlight for us was the private evening concert in a palace, an exclusive experience included with Riverside’s curated excursions.
